Staffing

 

The forestry operation is composed of the following personnel:

 

  • (1) City Forester
  • (1) Forestry Foreman
  • (4) Park Maintenance II-Forestry
  • (1) Forestry Internship
  • (2) Office personnel that are utilized with the entire Leisure Services Department.

 

Waterloo’s forestry employees are well trained and dedicated to the city’s arboricultural needs. Below are a number of training programs that are required of these employees.

 

  • The City Forester and the Forestry Foreman are required to obtain and maintain Certified Arborist status through the International Society of Arboriculture.
  • All forestry employees are required to obtain and maintain Line Clearance Arborist Certification status through ACRT Inc.
  • All forestry employees are required to obtain and maintain the Iowa Pesticide Applicator’s License.
  • All forestry employees are given the opportunity to attend arboriculture related workshops.
  • All forestry employees perform aerial rescue training.
  • All forestry employees maintain CPR and First Aid cards.
  • All forestry employees participate in a citywide safety training program.

 

All of this training develops the forestry employees’ arboricultural knowledge and creates a safe working environment for them and the residents of Waterloo.
