Waterloo Dog Park Description

The Waterloo Dog Park will be an enclosed off-leash dog park consisting of 5 acres alongside Greenbelt Park at the intersection of Highway 63 and Ansborough in Waterloo, Iowa (across from Veridain Credit Union, 1827 Ansborough).
After more than three years of discussion, land use for the Park was approved  in January 2007 by City Council.   City of Waterloo Leisure Services will maintain the Park, yet funds needed for fencing and other aspects of the facility must be provided  by citizens.  An ad-hoc committee soon formed.  The goal of this group is to gain the resources needed to implement and maintain the Ansborough location and encourage additional dog-oriented facilities.  Our dog park(s) will benefit current residents and provide a very positive attraction to those who may considering moving to the area.  Up to $ 80,000 is needed to implement the dog park objectives.  Various fundraising efforts will be used to generate funds.  Forward donations to Waterloo Dog Park, 425 Cedar Street, PO Box 1176, Waterloo, IA, 50704. Please give generously!  Pictures of the park location will be added soon!

Waterloo Dog Park Objectives

The Waterloo Dog Park will provide dogs with a place to exercise off-leash and provide dog owners with a place to enjoy time with their pets in park surroundings.  Our park will encourage a sense of community, as owners will share information of canine care and ownership (we love to talk about our dogs!).  Dog owners must comply with city park regulations.  An annual permit will be required.
