3-on-3 Basketball Tournament
4th-6th Grades
A day of fun on March 10, 2012 for youth to experience tournament pool play. Teams may be made up of any combination of 4th-6th graders with boys and girls divisions. Awards for 1st and 2nd places in each pool. The tournament will start at 1:00 p.m. with check-in starting at 12:30 p.m. Pre-registration is required.

Spring Break Sports Camps
Kindergarten-5th Grades
This program is designed to keep participants active during spring break through an assortment of sports activities. Leisure Services Staff members will lead participants through structured games each day. Participants will meet at designated times Monday-Wednesday. Thursday’s meeting will be K-2 (9:00-12:00) and 3-5 (9:00-1:00) for a pizza party. The 3rd-5th graders will be able to swim from 11:00-12:00 each day. Certified lifeguards will be on staff to supervise the pool area. Parents are welcome to stay and watch or they can drop children off for the program.

Hershey's Youth Track Meet
Ages: 9-14
The local meet is the first step in qualifying for the State Meet at Ames and the National Meet, held each August in Hershey, PA. Each year a minimum of 5 local youths will receive an all-expense paid trip to the National Meet, courtesy of the Hershey Chocolate Company. Events include 50, 100, 200, 400, 800 and 1600 meter runs, a 4 x 100 relay, standing long jump and softball throw. Pre-registration at the Leisure Services Office is requested.

Kiwanis/Katoski Youth Golf Tournament
Ages: 3-14
Sponsored by: Waterloo Kiwanis Club and Waterloo Leisure Services in honor of former Parks Director Leonard Katoski.

Time: Tee Times begin at 8:00am
Participants will be contacted with tee time on June 20th.

Info: Each golfer receives a t-shirt and lunch. There will also be awards for each age division. Register by June 13th to have youth name on the t-shirt. Golfers will play a designated number of holes and from designated distances based on age groups.

Outdoor Adventurers
Ages: 7-12
The Leisure Services Department is excited to offer this program in cooperation with the Iowa DNR and George Wyth State Park. The adventurers will experience many different outdoor activities in this 4-day program. Activities will
consist of nature hikes, leaf pressing, catching aquatic animals, nature crafts, fish identification, animal tracking, making shelters and many other fun and informative activities. The program will be led by a George Wyth State Park Naturalist with the assistance of Leisure Services Staff. Participants will meet at George Wyth at 9:00am for a two-hour adventure session Monday-Wednesday. On Thursday participants will meet for a four-hour session which will be spent fishing (lunch will be provided). Parents are welcome to attend Thursday’s activities.

NFL Punt, Pass, & Kick
Ages: 6-15
The competition is in association with the NFL. The program will create a lively and engaging forum for boys and girls ages 8-15 to compete separately against peers in punting, passing, and place kicking skills. Winners at the local competition have a chance to advance to sectional, regional and team championships.

Waterloo Optimist Club Thanksgiving Turkey Shoot
Ages: 4-14 With Parent
A parent with son or daughter, competes by age category to score the most combined free throws for a holiday family fun event. Girls & boys divisions. Pre-registration is requested. All participants must be residents of Waterloo.
