2010 Youth Tennis

Junior Lesson Program

The lesson program for all junior players begins with the Net Star Program (5-7 year olds) which is a very basic, activities oriented program with emphasis on fun and exercise as well as learning tennis “FUN”damentals. The standard beginners program, for new players 8 and older is the National Junior Tennis League (NJTL) which is held at Byrnes Tennis Center. When a player from either the Net Stars or NJTL program is able to play a regulation tennis match, they will advance to the Junior Team Tennis Program. The final step will be an Advanced Tournament Group for those players wishing to travel out of town to Iowa District level tournaments. A player could participate in both Junior Team Tennis and the Tournament Group lessons should he or she so desire.

Net Stars

(5-7 Year Olds)

Lessons focus on proper fundamentals, exercise and fun. Classes meet twice weekly for 5 weeks. Classes are 50 minutes. Fee includes a t-shirt.

National Junior Tennis League

Sponsored by the Metropolitan Tennis Association. Classes meet twice weekly for 5 weeks. Classes are 50 minute lessons plus Friday Fun Days. Fee includes a t-shirt.

Junior Team Tennis

(Able to play regulation matches)

Twice weekly 1-hour lessons plus matches against other teams on Fridays. Fee includes a t-shirt. Lessons are 5 weeks.

Tournament Group

Instruction and match play 2 hours daily, 3 days a week for 7 weeks. May play in both Junior Team and Tournament Group. Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 12:30-2:30 PM beginning June 7th.
