Riverside Skatepark

Skate Park
Riverfront

Originally built in 2002 in Exchange Park, Riverside Skatepark was destroyed during the flood of 2016. After 4 years of planning and fundraising the new $359,000 skatepark was constructed in a new location out of the floodway and can be found in the 200 block of Fairview Avenue at Joe Straub Memorial Field. Spohn Ranch of Los Angeles designed and built the new park with public input from stakeholders.  The new 8,500 sq. ft. concrete park is larger and more inclusive than the old wood structure. It is designed to accommodate sport wheelchairs and BMX bikes in addition to skateboards and roller blades.  Black Hawk County Gaming Association awarded a $150,000 grant for the project and the Otto Schoitz Foundation contributed a $100,000 grant. The CedarLoo Skatepark Association held fundraising events and contributed $2,000.  City of Waterloo Bond Funds paid for the remaining $107,000.
